My name is Simone, and I’m a Manchester-based photographer whose work is rooted in self-exploration, culture, and storytelling. With over 8 years of professional experience across exhibitions, community workshops, and the creation of visual archives, I use photography as a visual diary to document identity, growth, and connection.
Self-portraiture sits at the heart of my practice. I began taking self-portraits as a teenager to navigate my intersectionality, and it remains a powerful tool for reflection and transformation. Through fabric, symbolism, and movement, I explore the ‘human condition’ and the barriers I push past in everyday life.
My inspiration flows from many sources—nature, music, animation, and cultural dances—all of which are intertwined with my work. I also enjoy collaborating with local artists to honour their heritage, often incorporating culturally significant materials into our shared visual language.
Whether capturing portraits, places, or plants, I treat each image as a way to hold memory and truth. I hope my work encourages others to embrace their authenticity and to let go of fear, doubt and disbelief. The more I invest in my healing and creative growth, the more fully I can show up—for my art, my collaborators, and my community.
